Why do most of the time, movies are released to theatres on Fri. and released on DVD on Tues.?

You don't mean to make it sound like DVDs are released 3 days after coming out in movie theaters, do you?

Say you are selling DVDs; would you stand a better chance competing against movie premieres? Or opposite them?

Why do most of the time, movies are released to theatres on Fri. and released on DVD on Tues.?opera songs

I don't know why DVDs are released on Tuesday, but movies come out in theaters on Friday so people can see them over the weekend.

Why do most of the time, movies are released to theatres on Fri. and released on DVD on Tues.?secure browser opera theater

probably to give people something to watch for 4 days of the week. lol

For a long time Friday was the only time i ever saw movies released in theatres. It was very rare of a wed and NEVER a tues. Hell Omen was the first tues release i ever saw.

Now you have wed and friday releases.
well im not positive, but im sure it has something to do with when people shop (to buy dvd's) maybe people shop most often on tuesdays. and people mostly go see movies on friday nights, because it is their free time.

hope it helped
The thinking goes so new DVDs and new movies don't compete with each other. Tuesday happens to historically have the worse box office draw for movies, so DVD releases would have the least impact on that day.
Movies are released on Friday to capture the best grosses for the weekend. The money recorded for ticket sales will be used to market the movie as a "hit". People will think, that this is a popular movie. DVD's are sent to stores and the internet previously to Tuesday but are asked to hold until Tuesday to make sure that any late shipments to any outlets do not lose possible revenue. This insures a level playing field because some outlet got it before anyone else.
